Denver Latina Philanthropic Group Announces 2017 Grants
Denver, CO (PRWEB) December 12, 2016 -- On Wednesday, December 7, LatinasGive!, Denver’s first Latina philanthropic circle, hosted a reception to award seven local organizations with funding ranging from $500 to $2000 each for a total of $10,100. This was the second funding cycle for LatinasGive! whose purpose is to strengthen Latino stories through intentional community investment.
“For the Latino community, philanthropy is part of our cultural identity and fabric,” said Chrissy Deal, co-chair of LatinasGive!. “LatinasGive! is incredibly proud to be able to collectively put our financial resources together to help advance programs and services that focus on uplifting Latinos in Colorado.”
LatinasGive! received 45 grant applications ranging in monetary requests and issues that affect the Latino community. The organizations receiving funding in 2017 are:

-- Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Clinic
-- Curious Theater Company
-- Denver Education Attainment Network
-- Towards Justice
-- Right to LiveWell/Focus Points Family Resource Center – Comunidades Unidas
-- Museo de las Americas
Grant applications were scored based on the services they offer the Latino community in the following areas:
-- Cultural values/pride
-- Inclusiveness and equity
-- Promotion of our strengths
-- Multigenerational issues
-- Leaving a legacy
-- Support existing leaders
-- Culturally-based leadership
-- Social justice
-- Responsive to community needs
